30.04.13iCareer open for registrations

BREED is calling for unemployed young people to register for the highly successful iCareer programme.  The course commences on the 13th May at the BREED Business Centre in Quakers Hill.

The 2012 iCareer programme placed over 90 per cent of participants into either jobs or further education and training; and BREED has funding to take a further 40 students through the nine day intensive course.

iCareer is a career pathway programme linking young and disengaged job seekers to training and employment and  is unique as it combines specialist recruitment services with entry level training and life, image and etiquette coaching.

Stephen Frost, BREED Managing Director said, “This is an opportunity for young people to receive intensive career and life skills training.  We are hoping to reach young people who have left school but are not in work or training and they don’t know what to do.”

All students receive a make-over and select a corporate style out-fit, from Fitted for Work in Parramatta, with advice about the right style that suits particular body shapes.   Students also receive coaching on how to dress for and perform in interviews and the work place.

The program is free to students and is funded by Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations in Partnership with, Student Employment Options, The Lighthouse Project Australia, BREED and Fitted for Work.

The initial program that ran in December was highly successful.  CEO of Student Employment Options, Queenie Connell said, “of the 41 students commencing the program, 38 graduated.  All students have progressed to fulltime employment or further education and training. On graduation day all students wore their corporate out-fits and they all looked very professional; I felt so proud of them.”DSC_0183resized

iCareer works on the premise that all young people have the right to be successful, to set and achieve goals for life and career. iCareer has changed the lives of many young people from a transitory lifestyle to a belief that they can and will have a positive and successful life.
