29.10.13Blacktown Students vying for 2013 Student of the Year in Vocation Education Training Awards


BREED has announced its 2013 finalists of the prestigious Blacktown based Awards for Excellence program. The winners are the best in their vocational education training (VET) category and will be vying for the 2013 VET Student of the Year Award.

The Student of the year will be announced at the annual awards dinner before family, school principals, business and civic leaders, on the 19th November, at the Blacktown City Council Civic Centre.

2013 BREED Award for Excellence – Student Winners

The BREED Awards for excellence are the only vocation education training awards in the region and categories cover 14 different subject groups. Other categories include: School Based Trainee, Work Experience, Independent Employment Advisory Service and iCareer.

Student winners are selected on criteria of employability skills and determined by a BREED committee in consultation with schools and employers.

VET award categories include: Business Services, Information Technology, Café Skills, Commercial Cookery, Entertainment, Tourism, Primary Industries, Construction, Metals and Engineering, Retail, Automotive, Financial Services, Health Services Assistance and Electro-technology.

The 17 Students come from a cross section of Blacktown Schools and TAFE WSI; and are following:

By the end of 2013, BREED host employers’ would have hosted over 3,500 students’ from the Blacktown Region. Employers are nominated by students and schools and are rated on a criterion of being an employer of excellence.

BREED works with many organisations to develop partnerships that create opportunities for the regions young people; and takes the opportunity to also acknowledge outstanding BREED Partners at the event.
