Callout for businesses to help Mt Druitt students find their career path.
Links between schools and businesses are vital to reversing youth unemployment. It is the opportunity to access industry knowledge and skills that all too often divides the employed form the unemployed in our competitive job market. What can you do to help?
Locally, the Aboriginal Employment and Career Development team, and the Department of Education and Communities have organised the GALIYAAY Career Aspirations Expo at Mt Druitt. Businesses are invited to participate in the event important program to enhance career planning for Years 8 – 12 students. As one of five events operating across the State, the aim of the day is to give students a better understanding of career paths available to them. There is a focus on how to choose school subjects that will maximise a student’s chances of pursuing specific careers. The expo is a recognition that access to current career information in schools is a vital part of to transitioning students successfully to work.
