The Blacktown Job and Employment Training Expo to be held at TAFE Western Sydney Institute

Aug. 5, 2015, 11 a.m. (Blacktown Sun)

(Success: Last year’s Blacktown Job and Employment Training Expo was attended by 1670 people and there were 52 exhibitors with about 500 jobs advertised on the day.)

The annual Blacktown Job and Employment Training Expo is just around the corner and organisers promise an informative day for western Sydney job- seekers.

Held on August 27 at the TAFE Western Sydney Institute Blacktown, the expo helps open access to employment opportunities for job seekers and school leavers.

The expo is a combined effort between TAFE Western Sydney, Blacktown Council and employment and education services provider BREED.

“This is a free event and fantastic opportunity for the community to meet local industry and connect to training and other job service organisations,” a BREED spokesman said.

Since 2006 the annual expo continues to grow. Last year’s event was attended by 1670 people and there were 52 exhibitors ranging from manufacturing, transport, administration, professional services, retail and health care.

About 500 jobs were advertised at the event.

“The expo platform is used to connect school leavers and those seeking employment directly with training organisations and local employers,” a TAFE Western Sydney spokesman said.

There will be workshops on resume writing, job applications and consultants assisting on planning a career path and the skills needed for a particular industry or profession.

It is also a chance to find out how registered training organisations assist people in getting the job of their choice.

TAFE has received funding support over the history of the Expo from both state and federal government agencies.

It relies on community and not-for-profit organisations who volunteer their time to promote the event, provide donations or help through participation.

Corporate sponsors looking to take a lead role can contact organisers.
